Mini-Food, the Beginning

Grilled Cheese Sandwich, a pickle, and a bowl of Tomato Soup (the plate is the size of a penny) How cute is that?

I've been making crocheted wire jewelry for some time... and in the search for perfect beads at an affordable price, found that I could make my own... out of polymer clay... the beginning of an obsession!

A few weeks before I was to take my soap and bath products to a craft fair, I found that the particular fair I was signed up for was a "family festival" and became aware that my soaps, lotions, and other bath products might not do so well at a street festival (they sell great at markets and craft fairs)... so came up with some "mini-food" earrings to sell alongside the bath products... After receiving rave reviews on the realistic quality my food earrings possessed, I continued the evolution... and began to sculpt 1 inch scale foods from polymer clay. A new passion was born!

My ever-supportive husband has encouraged me (and sometimes pushed me!) to "do something" with my new-found talent. He began building a website while I spent every spare second making tiny food, often losing track of time in my joy of creating these itsy bits of deliciousness... and staying up till the wee hours of the morning engrossed in my projects.

I have a full-time "day job," a secondary "job" making and selling soap via my website southernheartsoaps.com and at craft fairs... and now, it appears, I have created myself a third "job" sculpting clay into wee bits of yummyness! To me it's not work at all, but sheer joy... and great fun. I just wish there were more hours in the day... because blast it all, I do have to sleep occasionally!

On goes the fun of creating! I LOVE it!
